Firefox 4: Foxier

I just recently upgraded to Firefox 4. I am loving it so far. It's so fast and sleek. There is less hoop-la at the top of the window in the toolbar, so it feels like I have also upgraded to a wider screen. Ha! Of course there is room for upgrading the toolbar, but I like the feel of less buttons, and more viewing space.

The speed of Firefox 4 is great! I haven't hit a lag yet. Here's hoping for continued Sonic the Hedgehog-like speeds and success!

Superman Casting

I always knew Superman would be revamped decades after the iconic role of Christopher Reeve, but I also knew that Reeves' would be some tough shoes to fill.

Tom Welling was a great choice for the adolescent version of Clark Kent in Smallville but I have gripes about the choice of Brandon Routh as Superman in 2006's Superman Returns

  1. Routh is a very flat actor. He has no range onscreen whatsoever.
  2. Routh's acting was about as washed out as the bland colored Superman costume they used.
  3. If you have to put in blue contacts to play Superman, then there is no reason why you should be cast to play The Man of Steel.
"What about Dean Cain?" you ask. Ah, yes. Cain does indeed have hazel eyes and held the role of Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman; but he was also deliciously yummy onscreen with charisma and presence that helped him execute the role, flawlessly. There was no need for him to possess blue eyes. With Routh, it felt as if they were reaching as opposed to letting him define his own role.

That is why Matt Cohen was born.

Size Matters

This post is a long time coming, but I had to remark on the literal downsizing of one of my most favorite breakfast sandwiches ever in life:

*Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich on Ciabatta bread*

One of my biggest gripes about starting the workday at 7 am is that my local Panera Bread doesn't open until 6:30, and I'm usually in too much of a rush to drop in. My favorite breakfast combo is the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich on Ciabatta bread with a cinnamon chip scone. Yummers! You haven't lived until you've had that sandwich. DELICIOUS!

Last winter there were a few ice storms that forced my job to delay about 3 hours. On one of these mornings I had the opportunity to make it a PB day in which I got the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich. To my surprise and disappointment, the sandwich was significantly smaller. There was noticeably less egg and cheese. I nearly had a conniption when I noticed the lack of bacon strips. I'm not happy, especially considering the price is still the same. The sandwich looked as if it had been flattened by a car tire or Steven Segal punched it in the face and it just sort of deflated.

Cafe Carolina - We're Over

I'm officially over Cafe Carolina. As mentioned in my previous post, Cafe Carolina - 'The Price is Wrong, Bob!', the Mac & Cheese combo went from:

  • Mac & Cheese, chips, cookie & drink for $4.88 to
  • Mac & Cheese, chips or cookie & drink for $4.88
While in a hurry between jobs on Monday, I stopped at CC and caved on getting the reduced Mac & Cheese combo. But to my very perturbed surprise, the price had been raised about .40 to $5.25. Needless to say, I was pissed and voiced my upset:

"So you removed one whole item and still raised the price?!"

To which I was met with a response that the drink price had gone up. I will never again subject myself to that kind of rip off at Cafe Carolina.

Mexican it is. Sorry, students...
