I always knew Superman would be revamped decades after the iconic role of Christopher Reeve, but I also knew that Reeves' would be some tough shoes to fill.

Tom Welling was a great choice for the adolescent version of Clark Kent in Smallville but I have gripes about the choice of Brandon Routh as Superman in 2006's Superman Returns.
- Routh is a very flat actor. He has no range onscreen whatsoever.
- Routh's acting was about as washed out as the bland colored Superman costume they used.
- If you have to put in blue contacts to play Superman, then there is no reason why you should be cast to play The Man of Steel.
"What about Dean Cain?" you ask. Ah, yes. Cain does indeed have hazel eyes and held the role of Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman; but he was also deliciously yummy onscreen with charisma and presence that helped him execute the role, flawlessly. There was no need for him to possess blue eyes. With Routh, it felt as if they were reaching as opposed to letting him define his own role.
That is why Matt Cohen was born.
