My Born Day

My birthday is at the end of this month! Yay! The big Quarter of a Century! :)

One of the highlights of my birthday month, besides awesomeness, is an array of coupons, discounts and freebie deals emailed or mailed to me throughout the month from stores, restaurants and online sites where I'm registered!

Also, I know I'm getting old when my birthday wish list only consists of gift cards, a massage, and a USB flash drive. But honestly, I really want a huge vase of beautiful flowers waiting for me. I think it's a pipe dream these days, but, a girl can dream...

Happy Spring!

Happy First Day of Spring!!!

Though I'm not a fan of the pollen and mosquitoes this time of year, I am super happy about the colors, brightness, fun, and the crisp, cool smell in the air -- the smell of sunshine! The rainbow in the sky this morning after the thunderstorm was a colorful treat from God. :)

(Did I mention my birthday is at the end of next month?! Yay, spring! ;-)

Happy 100th Birthday Oreo!

Tuesday was Oreo's 100th birthday!! The company was founded on March 6, 1912 in Chelsea, New York City. The cookie sandwich, formerly known as "America's Favorite Cookie" and now known as "Milk's Favorite Cookie", was a highlight of my early 90's childhood. Oh yeah, Oreo and I go all the way back to the days of Tang. The chocolate cookie with vanilla cream in the middle was a delightful treat morning, noon, or night. I enjoyed mine while reading comic books.

Then there was that awkward moment my mom called me downstairs to reprimand me for my sporadic theft of a cookie or two...or three from her stash. Apparently I hadn't thought that she would notice the dwindling amount in her container.

Over the years, Oreo has gone through many variations, flavors, and sizes including holiday varieties and festive colors. A century of a delicious cookie. Yum. I can't wait to
see what the next 100 years hold!

Betty White - Golden Girl

Today is Miss Betty White's birthday. I was first introduced to the stellar comedy of Betty years ago when my parents would watch Golden Girls. However, it wasn't until now, as an adult, that I truly appreciate the stellar series that is Golden Girls. A lot of that might have to do with the fact that I now understand the innuendos, jokes, and adventures of the ladies; specifically, that of Miss Blanche (played by Rue McClanahan). I absolutely LOVE this show! Between Lifetime, WE, and the Hallmark Channel, I can catch my fair share of marathons, which never get old. Each lady has her own distinguishing personality and brand of sense of humor that just adds to an excellent show. There's a great blend of drama and humor. Although the show revolves around four women, it's the kind of show I feel men can sit down and enjoy.

You know, I think I'm typically a mix of Rose and Blanche. In about 50 years I'll probably be more like Sophia. 4 to 6 days out of the month there's a possibility I'm more like Dorothy, though...

If you've never watched Betty and the ladies, you don't know what you're missing. What are you waiting for?

Happy Birthday Betty White!
