'Under My Black Skin' ~Kimster G. (Original Poem 3/11/16)
Under my black skin what do you see?
A person, a label, a construct of me?
Appropriated and broken down like a diagram,
Love what I do but not who I am.
The air is thick and heavy with the permeation of hate.
In this surreal reality, what will it take to abate?
Profanities, insults and tear gas hurled,
Gasping for breath on the ground, in the fetal position curled.
Hated, loathed, denied our power,
We are entering into the darkest hour.
You loathe ‘Black Lives Matter’ because it shouts the truth,
Rather ignore the bodies of unarmed youth.
We lift every voice and sing from our lungs.
We're more than just stereotypes of hoodies and guns.
We say our lives matter, some refute it’s a joke.
On our own words of power we try not to choke.
It shouldn’t be difficult to evolve and progress,
But mobs at rallies show a penchant to regress.
If the calm is this condition’s final form,
We’re all in for one hell of a storm.
Under my black skin what do you see?
An equal, a fighter, the strength in me?

Bar None (Original Poem 2/28/12)
Bar None ~K.G.
A treasure not to be taken for granted.
You spurned and rejected all that you were handed.
A heart of light meets a heart of stone.
Holding on to a past of pain you've only ever known.
Blind to the beauty of what is laid before you,
Never tapping into the courage to push through.
Shaped by regret and selfish desires,
Boiling over into raging, untameable fires.
Effortlessly passing on all that you had attained
Showering me with rejection; continuous pain gained.
Was it that easy to put aside my feelings?
Hypocrisy at the heart of all your dealings.
But my heart will heal and I will give my love freely,
And as sure as the sun rises and sets, you will think of me.
Now that you realize I've raised the bar,
Have a nice life settling for sub-par.

'Love Is...' (Original Poem 2/22)
Love Is... ~K.G.
It is the breeze on your face that lingers and tickles your soul.
It fills you from within like a dream made whole.
It dances in the fresh dew of the early morn.
It plays and laughs in light, never consumed with scorn.
Full of passion, strength, and praise,
It never ceases to shine throughout the night and days.
I yearn for love's touch so pure and true;
Wrapped in colors of warmth, a vivid hue.
It dwells inside me and longs to break free,
Into the heart of the man who truly sees me.
Only within the heart of the man so close to God to find,
As it is written that 'Love is patient, Love is Kind'.
And it breathes into every lyric and every rhyme,
So I am waiting for love to come in its own sweet time.

'Truth and Daggers' (Original Poem 2/19)
People have ceased to amaze me.
Hidden agendas are worn like badges.
Straight answers are always jagged,
Lies permeate reality.
Truths hide behind skeletons in closets.
What is seen cannot be unseen
And disappointment is in the eye of the beholder.
Words released forever float in the ether.
Sentences bond together like traincars
Instantly spiraling your world off track.
What are you willing to believe?
Hidden agendas are worn like badges.
Straight answers are always jagged,
Lies permeate reality.
Truths hide behind skeletons in closets.
What is seen cannot be unseen
And disappointment is in the eye of the beholder.
Words released forever float in the ether.
Sentences bond together like traincars
Instantly spiraling your world off track.
What are you willing to believe?

'Caress' (Original Poem 12/28)
Caress - K.G.
I touch your mouth and you beam.
I touch your heart and it sings.
I touch your soul and it speaks to me.
Words only we two can understand.
Words that transcend space and time.
You touch my eyes and they look into you.
You touch my hand and chills ripple through.
You touch my mind and it never forgets you.
Thoughts as sweet and pure as honey.
Thoughts rising like the sun.
Touch me, for we are one.
.

'Fear Itself' (Original Poem 12/6)
Fear Itself - K.G.
I can't escape the fear within
Which darkens my heart and makes my head spin.
It flows freely through each vein
Like a poison claiming its final reign.
It's my friend, and enemy;
It knows the deepest depths of me.
It cloaks me in heaviness when I rise
And lurks like a secret behind my eyes.
I try to flee from it with haste
While it drags me in its wake like a cyclone's waste.
On the surface I appear calm and healed
But beneath the surface: A shattered visage battlefield.
Fear is its name, fear is its game.
Who knew fear could bring so much pain?

Ode to Jacob Black
Ode to Jacob Black
O warrior Lycan!
With your rustic hues on this opaque night.
Rippling muscles that need no shirt
Which you remove with complete ease
To use in a healing manner.
Selfless and bold, strong and wise.
One gets lost in your deep, labyrinth eyes.
Ye of nature and transformation
Guided by the moon and the thrill of the hunt.
'Tis time for you to become one with the night.
Tonight is the Supermoon
and I will think of you fondly.

Poem of the Day (10/17)
Today I happily stumbled upon Edith Matilda Thomas' poem "The Deep-Sea Pearl". I find it absolutely moving and beautiful. The poem comes from Thomas' 1903 book of verses, The Dancers: And Other Legends and Lyrics. Being the Modern dancer that I am, I cannot wait to delve into the entire book. I look forward to reading her other works as well. Enjoy the poem.
Edith Matilda Thomas - "The Deep-Sea Pearl"
The love of my life came not
As love unto others is cast;
For mine was a secret wound--
But the wound grew a pearl, at last.
The divers may come and go,
The tides, they arise and fall;
The pearl in its shell lies sealed,
And the Deep Sea covers all.
