Quicksilver

**Update 8/8/13

According to Superherohype, Bryan Singer has revealed that Scarlet Witch will not be in X-Men: Days of Future Past. I’m guessing that means that Quicksilver will be an only child or, based on the DOFP storyline, she may have died in the alternate reality. I’m feeling like it’s going to be the former reason for his backstory’s sake. However, Scarlet Witch is still confirmed for Avengers: Age of Ultron. It appears viewers will be seeing two completely different takes on the character Quicksilver in the two films, one year apart.

How do you feel about this news? Were you hoping to see both Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in X-Men: Days of Future Past?

Who’s having the best week ever? Quicksilver, apparently.

No, I’m not referring to the element or the gland which allowed Darien Fawkes to transform into the Invisible Man (*10 points if you’re familiar with that show); I’m referring to the Marvel comic character. After Comic-Con 2013, I found out that not only will the character Quicksilver be in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) film, played by Evan Peters, but he will also be appearing in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) with his twin sister Scarlet Witch. Double whammy! Now, whether Whedon and Bryan Singer are on the same wavelength about use of the character, I’m not sure, but it would be a little weird to see two totally different portrayals of the character only a year apart. With X-Men coming out first, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch’s back-story could already be developed allowing them a smooth transition to the Avengers. (Although I’m not yet positive whether Scarlet Witch will also be in X-Men.) However, like I said, the directors could be working in two different “worlds” for the films.

File:Quicksilver!.jpgIf you’re not familiar, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are Magneto’s mutant children. Quicksilver (Pietro) has the power to move and think at superhuman speeds while Scarlet Witch (Wanda) has the power to control probability manipulation, reality alteration, and Chaos Magic. Both first appeared in the comics as antagonists to the X-Men but went on to become good guys with the Avengers.

Check out the link below for an interview where Joss Whedon discusses ideas for Scarlet Witch’s costume for the Avengers film. The original Scarlet Witch wore a pink wimple and leotard. Though unique, I have a feeling costume designers won’t be going that route this time around. We’ll see, though…

Are you excited about seeing Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past? Are you looking forward to the addition of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to the Avengers roster?
